Update:Stage 3 Child Care Legislation
The Assembly will vote on AB (Assembly Bill) 1 on Thursday, Jan 6 2010
Action: Calls to our Assembly Members are critical!
Assembly member Sandre Swanson - 916-319-2016 (for Oakland, Alameda, and Piedmont)
Assembly Member Skinner - 916-319-2014 (for North Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley), and
Assembly Member Mary Hayashi - 916-319-2018. (San Leandro, Hayward)
Background:AB1 and SB 12 were introduced respectively by Speaker John Perez in the Assembly and Senator Ellen Corbett in the Senate to overturn Governor Schwarzenegger's thoughtless and offhand veto of a subsidized child care program that helps 55,000 families afford child care while they are at their jobs. These two bills are on a fast track, since the child care for these families officially ended on Dec 31, 2010.
